Thank God It's Friday
It’s Friday today and I’m basking in the
knowledge of the freedom to do anything, spend the day my way. I’ve always felt
the need to do something worthwhile in life but being a wife and a mother has
always stopped me from achieving what I’ve always wanted to. But then, to
fulfill my duties as a wife and mother also have been pretty satiating.
Many a times I’ve envied people for the freedom
they have to switch jobs, or careers for the reason that I’ve always felt that
I was cut-out for something else in life than where I am today but then this
feeling was tossed when I saw there were so many people who were actually
jealous of my life as well. A small family with a well behaved, decent daughter
and a husband who’s very supportive. And that made me realize that one should
value what one has in life rather than running after materialistic things, to
which there’s no end.
Hence I’ve started revering in these small moments
of happiness like this bright Friday morning. I plan to relax, go shopping,
cook something special since cooking gives me immense pleasure, watch a movie
or just spend time with family in front of the TV and enjoy these family time
moments.
So, I’m going to the kitchen to cook a special
breakfast and hope all you there would have a nice weekend too.

Love Smiled
He came, he saw
The pain, the shame,
He sensed the wound was raw;
He cared, he shared,
And then he charmed his flair.
Impossible escape that glare
That led to this despair;
But no, what if it’s no affair
I thought I ought to love
To give to one, to all maybe
this precious give of love.
To love is not to get it back
To love is just to love.
Bright and Beautiful
He tapped urgently,
asked for my attention,
as I stood waiting for
the signal to go green;
I searched his eyes, for
signs of embarrassment,
or fear or shame or
longing.
I looked into his eyes probing
the depths
But just could find, a
careless glance.
Reaching for my purse,
my eyes didn’t
leave him even for a
moment;
Placing the coins on his
soiled hands
My motherly instincts let
my hands reach for his cheeks
Halting fleetingly for a
few seconds
Before reaching the
grubby cheeks.
His eyes beamed a perky
smile
And as if to return the
kindness,
He cautioned me of some
danger ahead
Which he knew from passersby.
I queried if he wasn’t
scared of the impending danger?
He laughed a confident
laughter
Pointing to his legs,
told me they’ll carry him faster.
He left to join the
others at the light,
And left me with his
laughter in my ears.
I wished, his legs will
sure take him fast
From this bleak, dark
future,
To a more promising one,
A future bright and
beautiful………………..

Zindigi zindadili ka naam hai, murda dil kya khaak jiya karte hain??
These lines from a famous Indian poet have always inspired me to go ahead in life, come what may. I remember very well how I have often shocked people with my switch-overs but then I have always believed in the grace of the Almighty, His guidance and my heart. Whenever I've felt I wasn't making a difference in the life of anyone around me, specially at my workplace, I've always moved on. Somehow too much of comfort and stability disturbs me to no ends. I believe in continuing to evolve as a better human or professional than before. I'm not one of those people who'd jump into cut-throat competition and do everything to gain recognition, I rather believe in "Slow and steady winning the race ultimately." The younger generation runnng for fame, success and monetary gains wouldn't agree with me I know but I know from experience of always able to make a difference, be it in the family life, or at the professional front. I've always left a void in people's life, when I've walked further.
My students, some of whom are now married have always showed me their love and respect which proves that I may not have won accolades on-stage but behind the scenes I've made a lot of difference. I've touched lives, and that's what is enough for me, I've been blessed by the Almighty for having done so in abundance.
